TicTacRook
tictacrook_v1
"Torre en raya" in spanish. TicTacRook is a deep, abstract strategy variant for Fairy-Stockfish that seamlessly fuses chess mobility with alignment goals. Played on an empty 8x8 grid, both players start with a reservoir of 16 pieces available to drop anywhere on the board. Alternatively, players can move their existing pieces, which slide horizontally or vertically exactly like Chess Rooks, but cannot capture or jump over others. The ultimate goal is to align 5 pieces in a row—horizontally, vertically, or diagonally—to win. This hyper-mobility transforms defensive blocking, offering a dynamic, tactical challenge where a single long-range slide can instantly shatter an opponent's strategy.

Praetorian chess
praetorian
Praetorian Chess is a “different armies” variant in which classical White (RNBQKBNR) faces the Praetorian army VWXIKXWV (this setup has an empirical White score of 50.365%). The rules are otherwise those of standard chess, except that there is no castling. Check, checkmate, en passant, and ordinary pawn movement are unchanged. Pawns promote to Queen, Rook, Bishop, or Knight. Praetorian pieces: - V Arbalest (Roobis, mRcB): moves like a Rook, but captures like a Bishop. - W Sentinel (Rooman, mRcK): moves like a Rook, but captures one square in any direction. - X Praetorian (Bers, KR): combines Rook and King movement. - I Ballista (Bisroo, mBcR): moves like a Bishop, but captures like a Rook. - K Caesar: the ordinary royal King. Empirical piece values computed in this matchup: Praetorian X (Bers) = 5.98 Ballista I (Bisroo) = 3.87 Arbalest V (Roobis) = 3.64 Sentinel W (Rooman) = 3.28 Queen Q = 8.50 Rook R = 4.26 Bishop B = 3.28 Knight N = 2.97 Pawn P = 1.00

Different Armies HWAGKAWH
differentarmies_v3
Classical White (RNBQKBNR) plays against the empirically balanced Black army HWAGKAWH (reported White score: 50.67%). Black's pieces are: H = Biskni, moves like a Bishop but captures/checks like a Knight (value = 2.49 pawn); W = Rooman, moves like a Rook but captures like a non-royal King (value = 3.28 pawn); A = Archbishop, combines Bishop and Knight movement (value = 6.79); G = Manroo, moves like a non-royal King but captures/checks like a Rook (value = 3.74). Otherwise the rules are those of chess, except there is no castling; pawns promote to Queen (value = 8.50), Rook (value = 4.26), Bishop (value = 3.28), or Knight (value = 2.97). Grasshopper King
grasshopperking
All the rules of Chess apply except that the King's normal move is replace by that of a Grasshopper and that stalemate's are a loss for the stalemated player. In order to move or capture, the grasshopper king (shown as an inverted king) must jump over a piece and land on the square immediately beyond that piece. The king may jump orthogonally or diagonally.Note that because of the asymmetrical King movement it is possible for the Kings to give check and even checkmate to one another.

shinshogi
New Shogi. The 'Keima (桂馬)' has been removed, and the 'Copper General (銅将)', 'Drunken Elephant (酔象)', and 'Knight (騎士)' have been added. With the exception of the King, all pieces can move like the King upon promotion, in addition to their existing movement. Pawn drop checkmates are also possible, and there are no draws.
