Community variant
Cannon Seirawan
Created by EmyViv in May 2026. Similar to Seirawan Chess (also known as S-Chess or SHARPER Chess), with a slightly different starting board, and a gateable Cannon instead of a Hawk. The Elephant moves as in S-Chess, with the combined movement of a rook and knight. The Cannon moves as in Xiangqi; it can move without capturing as a rook, but must jump over another piece to capture the piece that it lands on. Cannons are placed on d1 and d8, and Queens start in hand.
